I’m back.

It’s been a while since we’ve talked.

Since the last time I blogged a fair bit has happened. I don’t remember the majority of it. So let’s just go from the beginning of the year.

2009. After a memorable New Year’s Eve I lazed around at home doing almost nothing for a week, then the boredom overcame me. I gathered the minimal funds I had and bought… a camera. Not just any camera, mind you, but a hybrid camcorder turned digital camera. I mean, at the end of the day, I wanted a dSLR but we all know I can’t afford one. I bought a Canon SX1 IS for $200 off the (then) market price of $900 or so. Admittedly, it’s got me even more addicted to photography.

On 20 January I ventured overseas again. More specifically, I went to Japan again, but this time with June and Laura. We also got to meet with Johnny, Mario and Sarah Q when we were over there. And what can I say – for me to list every occurrence would be tedious and impossible, so when I get around to it you guys will be the first to know ;)

We were there for a whole 5 weeks and 2 days. It sounds like a long time for a holiday but when the last few days came I really wasn’t ready to come home yet. Now, I don’t want people assuming that since I love Japan to an unnatural extent that I conversely hate Australia. Don’t get me wrong – I still call Australia home. But I miss Japan like mad. I can almost guarantee that I’ll go live there someday.

From the time I got back, I’ve been really restless. I crave going out at night, but it’s so disappointing that essentially the only place that one can go to after hours is McDonalds. Where’s the (non-alcoholic) nightlife, Sydney?

But of course, my photography has been keeping me sane.

Now, as of tomorrow I’m back at UNSW finishing off my Arts degree. Week 1 is finally here. What the hell is Week 0 about?! Had I known that there were absolutely no classes running during week 0, I would have stayed in Japan for an extra week or even more. Damn…

I think travelling can be an addiction too, albeit a very expensive one at that.

Anyway, from now on I’ll be blogging from my phone so expect to hear from me more often than usual. I love you guys <3

  1. I don’t have to assume you love Japan and hate Australia. Australia sucks balls, but it’s so goddam obvious your preferred country is Japan. Our four week trip in 08 got me so bored I was streaming “a litre of tears” from your laptop and sleeping 12 hours plus while you japan-lovers ventured to unknown places to eat Shakey’s pizza in 5 degree temperatures.

    It is so overrated except for Jonathan’s and Denny’s where you can escape the freezing temperatures and smoke 3 decks of Malboros for $3.50 ea accompanied by a wide selection of refillable drinks :) That, whackos, sleazy men trying (and i emphasise, trying) to recruit you to be prostitutes and people bowing everywhere you turn are about the only things Australia lacks. You know I’m right in every aspect, Rikachu :D

    Well at least you admit you “love Japan to an unnatural extent”. I’m glad that you didn’t omit that part. Travelling to Japan should be a once-off week long (max) experience. I should write a book.
